There are those that were forced to make the unimaginable decision - to let go of one child in order to cling onto another; others tell of miraculous rescues and heartbreaking losses. One woman resigned herself to death only to be saved in a second of bizarre irony - she was saved by the power of the wave itself. Another woman only survived because she dived deep beneath the tsunami, letting the wall of water sweep over her. One man lived because he clung to an ancient tree that is sacred to the local Buddhist monks. All the survivors' stories are different, but all will resonate as one quietly imagines oneself in such a desperate situation.

There is breathtaking footage of the tsunami's force: cars, trucks, buildings and people are all swept aside in its wake.
